Carmel DECA is committed to providing your students with meaningful and authentic learning experiences at safe and secure venues.  That being said, at events like the State Career Development Conference (March 4-6), we need several dozen parents at the Marriott to help us keep nearly 300 Carmel High School students safe.  Because Carmel High School wants to ensure that your students are safe at all times, all volunteers are REQUIRED to complete a criminal background check and watch a brief video about bullying.

We also need experts from the field to serve as judges at our district and state competitions.  As many of you have experienced already, serving as a judge can provide you with an opportunity to encourage the development of many of our state's future business leaders.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL PARENTS OF CARMEL DECA STUDENTS

DECA’s State Career Development Conference (SCDC) will be held at the Indianapolis Marriott on Sunday, March 4 through Tuesday, March 6.  For the safety of our students, we will NOT spend the night in hotel rooms.  Rather, we will take a bus to and from the hotel each day.  It is important to note that students will miss school on Monday and Tuesday if they wish to compete at SCDC.  These absences will be viewed as “field trips” and will be excused.

ALL FORMS AND DAILY SCHEDULES FOR SCDC CAN BE ACCESSED BY CLICKING THE "STATE CONFERENCE" LINK ABOVE.

This year, over 300 students from Carmel have qualified to compete at SCDC through their role play events, their professional selling events, or their written projects.  That being said, if your student has advanced to SCDC, there are several expectations that we have for both students and parents alike:

    • ALL STUDENTS are required to attend the SCDC Informational Meeting during SRT Session 1 on MONDAY, JANUARY 29 in the CHS Auditorium.

    • ALL PARENTS are required to attend one of the two SCDC Information Meetings.

      • Dates: Mon, Feb 5 OR Tues, Feb 6

      • Location:

        • Freshman Cafeteria

        • Enter through Door 13

      • Time:  Starts promptly at 7:00pm and will end no later than 8:00pm
